GDIL is delighted to welcome our first visiting scholar to the UT Austin campus this week. Dr. Vilma Luoma-aho joins us from the University of Jyväskylä, a research university in Finland.
As Professor and Vice Dean of the School of Business and Economics, her research focuses on “strategic communication of organizations in today’s dynamic environment that is increasingly prone to different forms of influence. With many diverse stakeholder groups posing new pressures on organizations, intangible assets (trust, reputation, social capital) play a stabilizing role: only trusted organizations are able to function well also in the future.”
In addition to furthering her research while in Austin, Dr. Luoma-aho will also be giving a talk at GDIL on “Disinformation on Digital Media Arenas” using Finnish examples to illustrate conceptual points on understanding and combatting disinformation. Her talk is free and open to all.
